Boy George says his new reggae song “We Will Dance Again” was made with the help of artificial intelligence, according to Stereogum. He shared the track on his social media accounts on Sunday.
The song appears to respond to the Oct. 7 attack at the Nova music festival, and it shares its title with an Israeli documentary about the attack. In the lyrics, Boy George rejects the label of genocide for Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and criticizes musicians who have spoken out against Israel.
In a Threads post, Boy George said he “call[s] it ‘AI for good’” and added that he would have struggled to write the song with a human. He also wrote that he prefers “an imperfect democracy” and acknowledged that many people disagree with his view.
According to Stereogum, the song is only available on Boy George’s social accounts for now and has not been released on streaming services. The outlet also noted that Culture Club’s 1984 single “The War Song” took a broadly anti-war stance.
