A Welsh men’s choir honored Bonnie Tyler at her funeral in Swansea, Wales, on Monday by performing her 1983 hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” according to Rolling Stone.
The group, Only Men Aloud, sang the song near the end of the service. An Associated Press video of the performance shows the choir singing with a small string section accompanying them.
Tyler had a long connection with Only Men Aloud. The choir rose to prominence after winning the BBC competition Last Choir Standing in 2008, and they later recorded “Total Eclipse of the Heart” with Tyler on their 2009 album Band of Brothers.
Only Men Aloud also performed “Bridge Over Troubled Water” earlier in the funeral. Tyler had recorded her own version of that song for her 1995 album Free Spirit. Tyler died in early July at a hospital in Faro, Portugal, after being hospitalized for more than a month following emergency intestinal surgery in late May, according to Rolling Stone. An official cause of death has not been released.
