Blue singer Lee Ryan is due to be sentenced after losing an appeal in a case involving a racially aggravated assault on a British Airways air steward, according to NME.
The incident happened on July 31, 2022, during a flight from Glasgow to London. Ryan admitted he had been drunk on the plane and was accused of making an inappropriate comment to a crew member, reportedly telling her she was like a “sweet chocolate chip cookie.”
He was later convicted of racially aggravated assault in 2023 and originally received a 12-month suspended sentence. That sentence was later revoked while he tried to overturn the conviction.
According to NME, Ryan’s appeal was rejected, and a further challenge to the High Court was also turned away. Judges said the case should go back to the crown court, where sentencing is now set to take place.
