Beck, Karen O, Jackson Browne and more perform Wes Anderson songs at the Bowl

An all-star lineup gathered at the Hollywood Bowl last weekend for three shows celebrating the music featured in Wes Anderson’s films, according to Stereogum. The concerts spotlighted many of the ’60s pop and rock songs closely tied to Anderson’s movies.

Beck performed several covers over the three nights, including Elliott Smith’s “Needle In The Hay,” the Bobby Fuller Four’s “Let Her Dance,” Love’s “Alone Again Or,” and Oliver Onions’ “Zorro Is Back.” Jim James, Jenny Lewis, Bill Murray, and Jason Schwartzman joined in on “Let Her Dance,” while Beck’s former touring band served as the house band.

Anderson attended the shows and introduced Jackson Browne, who played “The Fairest Of The Seasons” and “These Days,” songs he wrote for Nico and which were used in The Royal Tenenbaums. Karen O covered the Rolling Stones’ “Play With Fire” and the Creation’s “Making Time,” while Britt Daniel also performed “Making Time.”

Other performances included Devo playing “Gut Feeling / (Slap Your Mammy),” Jenny Lewis singing “Freight Train,” Jim James covering “Strangers” and “The Wind,” and Jeff Goldblum performing “Blinuet.” The event ended with many of the artists joining together for the Faces’ “Ooh La La.”
