Mastodon Announces New Album Marrow Deep With Josh Homme on Lead Single

Mastodon will release a new album, Marrow Deep, on August 28, according to Pitchfork. It will be the band’s first full-length project in five years and its first since the death of former frontman Brent Hinds.

The album’s lead single, “Snakes for Dinner,” features vocals from Queens of the Stone Age singer Josh Homme. Homme also appears in the song’s comedy-horror video, which was directed by Deathcats.

Marrow Deep will be the first Mastodon album to feature the band’s current lineup of founders Brann Dailor, Troy Sanders, and Bill Kelliher, along with new guitarist Nick Johnston. Keyboardist João Nogueira also plays on the record, which the band co-produced with Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou, according to the announcement.

Hinds died in a motorcycle crash last August, five months after leaving the band. Mastodon recently released “Your Ghost Again” and a short film honoring Hinds, and the group is set to tour later this year with Deafheaven and Alcest.
