Beagle rushed to Australian vet after eating 2.4 pounds of gummy worms

A 3-year-old beagle named Scooter was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic in Australia after eating 2.4 pounds of gummy worms, according to UPI Odd News.

Animal Emergency Service Jindalee said the dog’s owners brought her in after she finished an entire bag of the candy, which is known in Australia as jelly snakes. Veterinary nurse manager Kate Wesche said the sweets did not contain xylitol, a substance that can be dangerous to dogs.

Even so, veterinarians decided to induce vomiting because of the amount of sugar Scooter had eaten. Scooter’s canine sibling, Jada, was also treated as a precaution and brought up only one candy.

Wesche told 1News that Scooter had “clearly no regrets in her decision.” Both dogs were given clean bills of health and sent home.
