Barack Obama has shared his annual summer playlist, offering a look at the songs he and former first lady Michelle Obama have been listening to this season, according to Billboard.
The former president posted the list on Thursday, July 30, and said it begins with a Glen Hansard song that he and Michelle Obama love. He added that his thoughts are with Hansard’s family after the musician died this week.
The playlist spans several eras and styles, featuring artists such as Marvin Gaye, David Bowie, The Police, Nina Simone, Chaka Khan, Neil Young, The Beatles, The Temptations and Johnny Cash. It also includes more recent acts like SZA, Doechii, Tyla, Zara Larsson, Drake, Future, Molly Santana, Noah Kahan, Vince Staples, Anderson .Paak and RAYE.
Among the newer songs highlighted are SZA and Doechii’s “Girl, Get Up” and Tyla and Zara Larsson’s “She Did It Again.” Billboard notes that Obama has continued a tradition of sharing seasonal playlists since leaving the White House, often pairing familiar classics with newer and lesser-known artists.
