New details have emerged about the death of Blake Garrett, the actor known for How to Eat Fried Worms. According to E! News, an autopsy obtained from the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner shows Garrett died of acute fentanyl toxicity.
The report says the 33-year-old died by accidental overdose. It also confirmed that Garrett was living in a sober living house in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the time of his Feb. 8 death.
Garrett’s death had previously been described by his mother, Carol Garrett, as an accident. She told TMZ that he had been doing well after getting sober three years earlier.
According to the report, she also said he had recently gone to the emergency room for severe pain and was diagnosed with shingles. Garrett began acting at age 10 and appeared in the 2006 ensemble film How to Eat Fried Worms, along with several stage productions.
