Anne Hathaway says her experience as a mother helped shape the emotional core of her role in The End of Oak Street, according to E! News. In the film, Hathaway and Ewan McGregor play parents trying to protect their family after their home is transported into a dinosaur-filled world.
Speaking at the movie’s Aug. 9 premiere, Hathaway said it makes sense for actors to draw from their own lives. She explained that, whether someone is playing a parent or not, the instinct to protect loved ones is something many people understand.
Hathaway said she was drawn to the project largely because of director David Robert Mitchell. She praised his 2014 film It Follows as one of her favorite movies and said she was impressed by his creativity and imagination.
The actress said she had told Mitchell that if he ever made something she was right for, she would be honored to be part of it. The End of Oak Street opens Aug. 14 and also stars Maisy Stella and Christian Convery.
