50 Cent joins live-action Payday TV adaptation as executive producer

50 Cent has signed on as executive producer of the live-action TV adaptation of the Payday video game series, according to NME. He is joining the project through his G-Unit Film & Television company.

The first Payday game, Payday: The Heist, came out in 2011 and sold more than 400,000 copies in its first three months. The franchise later expanded with Payday 2 in 2013, Payday 3 in 2023, and several spin-offs.

Starbreeze says the series has now sold more than 50 million units. The adaptation was previously announced earlier this year by Starbreeze in partnership with Vice Studios.

In a statement, 50 Cent said the team wanted to build “a high-energy franchise” that would push the heist genre forward. Starbreeze CEO Adolf Kristjansson said the project would not be about playing it safe, and noted that 50 Cent and G-Unit are deeply immersed in the world of crime stories.

No release date has been announced, and the production has not yet revealed any cast members, writers, or directors.
