Zohran Mamdani made another surprise appearance at a concert, this time during Djo’s show at Forest Hills on Friday, July 17, according to Stereogum.
During the performance of “Charlie’s Garden” from Djo’s latest album The Crux, the song’s usual voicemail segment was swapped out for a video message from Mamdani. In the clip, he greeted Joe Keery and congratulated him on selling out the show.
Stereogum noted that Djo normally uses a voicemail from his Stranger Things castmate Charlie Heaton during the song, and Heaton was also at the concert. But for this show, Mamdani appeared on screen instead.
The crowd reacted loudly to the surprise, though Stereogum said it was hard to make out most of what Mamdani said over the cheers.
