Vanessa Bryant is grieving the loss of her grandmother, Antonia, whom she affectionately called “Mami Tonia,” according to E! News. She shared the news on Instagram on July 31 with a photo of herself kissing her grandmother on the cheek.
In her post, Vanessa wrote that she loves her grandmother and that the family will miss her deeply. She also included a blessing attributed to Antonia, asking for God and the angels to watch over her.
Vanessa’s daughter Natalia also honored Antonia on Instagram Stories, posting a black-and-white photo of the two of them together and writing, “Te Amo Mami Antonia.”
After the announcement, several celebrities offered support to Vanessa and her family. Kris Jenner, Kimora Lee Simmons and Khloe Kardashian were among those who commented with messages of sympathy.
Vanessa has previously spoken publicly about other painful losses in her family. Her husband Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna died in a helicopter crash in January 2020 that killed nine people.
