TTSSFU says new music is headed back to dream-pop

TTSSFU has offered an update on what fans can expect from her next release, saying she is planning to move back toward dream-pop. The Mancunian singer, whose real name is Tamsin Stephens, spoke to NME at Mad Cool Festival about the direction of her upcoming material.

Stephens said the new songs are shaping up to be more synth-driven, and that she wants her next project to reflect the music and ideas that first inspired her. She noted that her last EP, ‘Blown’, leaned more heavily on guitars, while the new work is pushing in a different direction.

She also said she has recorded a synth-pop album after releasing ‘Blown’, and that one track from those sessions will appear on her next record. According to Stephens, the project began as an experiment, but it helped guide what she wants to make next.

Stephens admitted that it took time to move past the pressure that followed ‘Blown’. She told NME that touring and seeing other bands made her question whether her own music was exciting enough, but that she has since regained confidence in it.

She also said she is looking forward to an upcoming tour with Blondshell, adding that the pair have spoken by direct message and that she expects the run to be fun.
