Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway was temporarily closed in both directions Sunday afternoon after a truck fire, according to InMaricopa.
The fire was reported at 1:43 p.m. in the eastbound lanes, and the shutdown lasted for about 45 minutes. Crews worked to put out the flames and clear the roadway while traffic was diverted.
City spokesperson Elle Ortega said the truck’s occupants were able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported. The closure affected the stretch from Porter to White and Parker roads, including the area near Farrell Road.
Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway reopened at 3:01 p.m., according to the update from InMaricopa. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
