Steve Lacy may have accidentally revealed a key detail about Spider-Man: Brand New Day during the film’s premiere Monday night at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, according to Stereogum.
Lacy was at the event because his song “oh yeah?” appears in the movie. During a blue carpet interview, he was asked which character he was most excited to see and was told not to share spoilers.
In response, Lacy said, “I like Jean. She’s the villain but there’s a reason to her madness.” When the interviewer asked if he had just spoiled something, he followed up by saying he liked the character but did not know why.
Viewers quickly speculated that “Jean” referred to Jean Grey, leading to the theory that Sadie Sink may be playing the X-Men character, though the film has not officially confirmed her role.
