A routine speeding stop in Maricopa led to drug charges for a local driver, according to InMaricopa. Police said the stop happened July 21 around 1:15 p.m. near Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Plainview Street.
An officer reportedly saw a silver Mitsubishi Galant traveling 57 mph in a 35 mph zone, which is 22 mph over the limit. The driver was later identified as 27-year-old Christian Alexander James Faulk Locascio.
According to a probable cause statement cited by InMaricopa, Locascio did not have a valid driver’s license and also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. During a search of the vehicle, police say they found a rolled dollar bill with white powdery residue.
A field test identified the substance as cocaine, the report said. Locascio faces felony and misdemeanor charges including drug paraphernalia, excessive speeding and driving without an eligible license.
