Jacksonville hardcore band Southpaw FLHC has canceled its upcoming tour after several opening acts and venues pulled out, according to Stereogum.
The backlash centered on social media posts showing drummer Harrison Linder wearing clothing from Curb Stomp Manufacturing, a California brand that sells items featuring Nazi symbols such as Totenkopfs and SS lightning bolts. The issue resurfaced in the comments of a recent Instagram post from the band’s merch store, where a user asked whether the group planned to release Nazi merch.
In response, Southpaw wrote that no one in the band is a Nazi. Over the weekend, multiple venues canceled shows on the tour, and support act Arcline said it was dropping off before Resist LA and Resistor also announced they were leaving the second leg.
On Sunday, the band posted a statement and video saying it rejects Nazism, white supremacy, antisemitism and other forms of racial hatred. The band said the imagery worn by Linder was irresponsible, while vocalist Daryn LaMontagne said the shirt had been worn without understanding what it represented.
