Matthew McConaughey performed a bluegrass version of Ella Langley’s country song “Choosin’ Texas” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, according to NME.
The Austin native sang with Fallon during the live performance on August 12. McConaughey is closely tied to Texas, where he is also a co-owner of Austin FC and a professor at the University of Texas.
Langley appeared to approve of the cover, commenting “Omg” on the show’s Instagram post. Country singer Afton Prater also reacted, writing, “Get this on Spotify asap.”
“Choosin’ Texas” was a 2025 hit for Langley, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and No. 3 in the U.K. She released her sophomore album, Dandelion, in April.
