The cast of Saved By The Bell is now seeing the sitcom through their children’s eyes, and the reaction has not always been enthusiastic, according to E! News.
Tiffani Thiessen, who shares Harper, 16, and Holt, 10, with husband Brady Smith, said her daughter laughed more than she connected with the show because television feels very different today. Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, who has a 13-year-old son, Sky, with husband Greg Lauren, said it is amusing for kids to watch their parents as teenagers on screen.
Elizabeth said Sky watched the series when he was younger and especially liked the episode where Screech builds a robot named Kevin for a science fair. She added that he enjoyed seeing his mom on screen, but that the pacing and storylines are very different from what children watch now.
Mario Lopez said his older children, Gia, 15, and Nico, 12, are not interested in watching him play A.C. Slater. He joked that his youngest son, 6-year-old Santino, may be the one who eventually gives the show a chance.
Even if their kids are not joining the fan club, Thiessen, Lopez and Berkley Lauren said the bond they formed on the show is still there. The trio recently reunited while working with Box Tops for Education and said the experience brought back the same close, teen-like dynamic they had during their Bayside days.
