Robert Irwin says he has won some extra “cool points” with his niece, Grace, by teaching her how to dance. In an interview with E! News, he said the 5-year-old is excited to learn from him.
Robert explained that spending more time with family over the past year helped strengthen that bond. He noted that his family traveled to Los Angeles to support him while he competed on Dancing With the Stars, and that ABC’s new spin-off series The Next Pro was filmed close to his home in Brisbane, Australia.
He said one episode of the show was even filmed at Australia Zoo, making the project especially meaningful for him. Robert added that after filming, Grace would often be ready for dance lessons, asking him to teach her the jive and the tango.
The wildlife conservationist said being an uncle is the “best job” he has ever had and praised Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell as “incredible parents,” according to E! News. Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro premieres on ABC July 13, with episodes available the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
