Two well-known restaurant and grocery chains may be back in the conversation for Maricopa, according to records obtained by InMaricopa. An 11-page email and two maps included site-plan attachments labeled for WinCo Foods and Chili’s Grill & Bar near the South Bridge area.
The email exchange between landowner Michael Koslow and City of Maricopa Engineer Supervisor John Shields was heavily redacted, leaving little detail about what the plans might involve. Aside from a few page numbers and attachment labels, the documents do not reveal much about either possible project.
The records do not confirm that WinCo or Chili’s is planning to open in Maricopa. They also do not include a timeline or indicate whether either idea has moved beyond early discussions, according to InMaricopa.
Still, the appearance of both names has renewed interest in the possibility. It is not the first time rumors have circulated about either chain coming to the city, with past reports also pointing to possible interest that never resulted in an opening.
