Visitors on Liverpool’s Magical Mystery Tour got an unexpected treat on July 20 when Sir Paul McCartney appeared during the city tour, according to Billboard.
Tour guide Neal Morton told the BBC that he was stopped at traffic lights on Hope Street when he spotted McCartney. Morton said the musician waved to the group, and passengers quickly began taking photos.
McCartney then added to the moment by showing the group that he was on a FaceTime call with former bandmate Ringo Starr. Morton described the sighting as “surreal,” and said the passengers could not believe it.
According to Billboard, McCartney was in Liverpool ahead of a presentation to actor Stephen Graham connected to the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, which McCartney co-founded. The Magical Mystery Tour visits locations tied to the Beatles, including their childhood homes, Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane and the Cavern Club.
