Jake Johnson has shared a glimpse of Prince’s TV tastes, saying the late artist counted “Cheers,” “Roseanne” and “New Girl” among his favorite shows, according to NME.
Johnson made the comment while reflecting on Prince’s guest appearance on New Girl in 2014. Prince played himself on the sitcom after asking to be on the show because he was a fan.
In an interview with The Guardian, Johnson said he spent time talking with Prince about sports and television while they were on set. He added that Prince referred to him by his character name, Nick, and recalled the moment as a memorable one.
NME notes that New Girl aired from 2011 to 2018, while Prince died in 2016 at age 57. The outlet also reported that a release of rare and unreleased Prince recordings was announced last month.
