Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley’s daughter Leah has started her senior year of high school, according to E! News. The 17-year-old is nearly 20 years removed from her parents’ time on 16 and Pregnant.
Leah’s stepmother, Kristina Shirley, marked the first day of school with an Instagram photo showing Leah and her younger sister Emilee, 11. Kristina, who married Gary in 2015, wrote in the post, “First day of SENIOR year and 6th Grade!”
In the image, Leah wore a white crocheted sweater with bell sleeves and blue jeans, while Emilee wore a gray hoodie over a pink T-shirt and jeans. The sisters also wore similar wavy hairstyles with bows.
The milestone drew attention from fans online, many of whom said they could not believe Leah was already in 12th grade. The update comes after Leah, who is estranged from Amber, previously referred to Kristina as “my mama” in an Instagram post and explained on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter that she chose to end communication with her mother after comments made online.
