A Kentucky man has set a new Guinness World Record by putting together a Mr. Potato Head toy while blindfolded in 7.92 seconds, according to UPI Odd News.
Conor Shea beat the previous record of 12.11 seconds, which had been set by German serial record-holder Andre Ortolf. Shea said on social media that he learned about the unusual record last summer after some searching online.
According to the report, Shea said the attempt was meant to draw attention to Usher syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes hearing loss and eventual blindness. He told Guinness World Records that he wanted to show people with the condition can still do remarkable things.
A post from Louisville Alumni said Shea, a University of Louisville alumnus, set the record on Feb. 7.
