Kelly Clarkson joked about leaving behind NBC workplace rules while performing the first night of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace on July 17, according to footage shared by @jpasc24 and reported by E! News.
Clarkson said she would have been fired by NBC for some of the things she discussed onstage, then laughed that she no longer works there. She also joked about human resources meetings and how situations that might be normal on tour would not be accepted in a corporate setting.
During the performance, Clarkson poked fun at advice people sometimes give about not commenting when someone has lost weight. She told the crowd that compliments are often meant kindly and joked that some people say things that are “dumb,” drawing laughter from the audience.
Clarkson also said her coworkers did not enjoy HR meetings with her because she kept asking questions and pushing for details. The remarks came months after she announced in February that The Kelly Clarkson Show would end this fall after seven seasons, with Clarkson saying she wants to focus more on her children, River and Remington. She is also set to return as a coach on The Voice this fall.
