Julie Andrews made a rare video appearance to open the annual World Parkinson’s Congress in May, addressing attendees at the Phoenix Convention Center, according to E! News.
In her message, the 90-year-old thanked participants for their role in the search for a cure and said she understands how damaging the disease can be. She encouraged the group to keep working toward progress and said she wanted to help as well.
The E! News report says Andrews is also involved in several other projects, including a Disney+ film planned for 2027 that will trace her career. She and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, also recently reissued their children’s book The Great American Mousical.
Andrews has continued building a body of work since throat surgery in 1997 affected her singing voice. According to the report, she has written about 30 books with Walton Hamilton and has said that staying busy with new projects has been a source of joy.
