Judge Judy says she once had reservations about her son following her into courtroom television, but she now believes he is ready for the job. In a trailer for Adam Levy’s new daytime court series, Adam’s Law, she said she would not have encouraged him to take on the role a decade ago because she was not ready to step aside.
Judy, whose real name is Judy Sheindlin, joked that her son may even have the ability to outdo her, though she said she did not like that idea. Still, she said Adam has a strong understanding of the law from his work as a district attorney and believes he has the kind of personality that can connect with viewers, according to E! News.
Adam Levy said in the trailer that his advice to anyone appearing on his show is to tell the truth. He added that false statements bother him when they can be clearly proven wrong.
Sheindlin also made clear that she is not planning to retire. In a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said she was not tired and had no interest in taking up pastimes like golf, tennis, mahjong, chess or checkers.
