An Indian content creator has earned a Guinness World Record for the longest hair on a living person (female), according to UPI Odd News.
Renu Dhariyal’s hair was measured at 8 feet, 10 inches long, taking the title from Ukrainian Aliia Nasyrova, whose hair measured 8 feet, 5.3 inches.
Dhariyal told Guinness World Records that she has been growing her hair continuously since 2015. She said long hair is seen in Indian culture as a symbol of beauty and tradition, which inspired her to let it grow.
She also said caring for her hair takes time, including hours spent washing and detangling it. Dhariyal said her routine is completely natural and that she avoids chemical products, instead sharing homemade hair oils and shampoos on her YouTube channel.
According to Guinness World Records, the record for the longest hair ever on a female belongs to China’s Xie Qiuping, whose hair measured 18 feet, 5.54 inches in 2004.
