Hannah Waddingham says her daughter Kitty has influenced the way she plays Rebecca Welton on Ted Lasso, according to E! News.
In an exclusive interview at the show’s season four premiere in Los Angeles on July 27, Waddingham said her 12-year-old daughter with ex Gianluca Cugnetto has had a meaningful effect on her performance. She described Kitty as a gift that has taken her in a different direction with the character.
The 52-year-old actress also spoke about the challenge of balancing work and motherhood. In an interview with The Guardian published July 18, she said she feels “mum guilt” before traveling for press and other work tied to the series, but tries to manage those feelings.
Waddingham has also found ways to keep her daughter involved while she works. At the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards, she carried a homemade cardboard clutch made by Kitty on the red carpet, saying she wanted to show her daughter she is never far from her. She also told Women’s Health that she tries to set a healthy example for Kitty when it comes to body image and food choices.
