Fatboy Slim’s debut album Better Living Through Chemistry is getting a 30th anniversary reissue, according to Billboard. The project will be released digitally on Sept. 25 through BMG, followed by special-edition LP and CD editions on Oct. 2.
Originally released in 1996, the album helped launch Norman Cook’s Fatboy Slim persona and became part of a strong era for British electronic music. Billboard notes that scene also included acts such as The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Aphex Twin and Underworld.
The album includes the singles “Everybody Needs a 303,” “Punk to Funk” and “Going Out of My Head.” Although it reached No. 69 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, it set the stage for Cook’s later success, including major festival and headline performances around the world.
In a statement quoted by Billboard, Cook said the record was him “figuring out” what he was doing and making music for different moments, from the dancefloor to the afterparty. He added that he is glad the album is still being discovered and celebrated all these years later.
