Colin Jost has some clarification about how he says his wife Scarlett Johansson’s last name.
While hosting Pop Culture Jeopardy!, the Saturday Night Live comedian joked around after an audience member asked whether Johansson’s name is pronounced with a “Joe” or “Yo” sound, according to E! News. Jost laughed and said he wanted to hear how Johansson herself says it.
He then admitted that he says “Joe-hansson,” adding with a smile that he does not really say her last name very often. Jost also said Johansson’s family background is Danish and Swedish, and noted that the name was likely originally pronounced “Yo-hansson.”
Jost also joked about his own surname, saying it was probably pronounced differently in Germany before the family name changed over time. He closed out the exchange with another joke when asked if he is friends with Michael Che in real life, saying, “I didn’t say you could have a second question.”
