Chrissy Metz says she has started using a GLP-1 medication after being unsure about it for years, according to E! News. The Breakthrough actress said she had been hesitant for about six years, going back to the COVID era, because she wanted to understand how the medication would affect her body.
Metz said her view changed after a friend did extensive research and she looked closely at her own family health history. She explained that, after years of dieting, she realized the medication might help with more than weight loss, including what she described as “food noise.”
The This Is Us alum said her goal was to be as healthy as possible for as long as possible. After starting the medication through Ro, a telehealth company, she said it has improved her inflammation, lab work and overall sense of well-being.
Metz also said the change has helped her feel more present and creative, including while performing in "&Juliet" on Broadway eight times a week. She said she hopes speaking openly about her experience encourages others not to let outside opinions stop them from making decisions that may be right for them.
