Charli XCX Debuts Five Music, Fashion, Film Songs at Nashville Spotify Show

Charli XCX gave a preview of how her new album Music, Fashion, Film might sound in a live setting with a Spotify event Wednesday night at the Basement East in Nashville, according to Stereogum.

The show featured a strong focus on the new album, including five songs Charli had never performed before: “Yeah,” “Magic Metal Montana,” “Card Declined,” “2007,” and “No One Lasts Forever.” She had already debuted some Music, Fashion, Film material at a one-off Brooklyn show earlier this month.

Charli performed with a live band, and the report says the stripped-back approach helped the songs come through clearly despite her usual reliance on vocal effects and studio production. The set was also backed by constant strobe lighting and Charli’s stage presence.

The Nashville setlist also included older songs and fan favorites such as “Apple,” “party 4 u,” “anthems,” and “pink diamond.” Stereogum noted that David Cronenberg did not appear for his spoken-word part on “No One Lasts Forever,” at least in the videos shared from the show.
