Charley Crockett has issued another lengthy statement after facing backlash over the decision to drop Twin Temple from two of his shows, according to Stereogum. Crockett says the split had nothing to do with Satanic imagery, as Twin Temple had claimed.
In his statement, Crockett said the band’s production requests could not be accommodated and that he later felt the group’s stage behavior made them a poor fit for an all-ages audience. He added that the band was paid in full after being removed from the shows.
Crockett also took aim at Jack White, writing that White used the controversy to help sell tickets and that he “lost a lot of respect” for him. He questioned why White was not as outspoken during his time with the White Stripes, adding that he believes the band avoided political issues back then.
The dispute came after Twin Temple’s Alexandra and Zachary James said their removal was tied to their Satanic imagery, and White invited them to open for him. Twin Temple has since announced a new album, Doomed Lovers, and their show with White is set for Sept. 29 at the Hollywood Palladium, according to Stereogum.
