Chance the Rapper revisits “Same Drugs” on Fallon for Coloring Book anniversary

Chance the Rapper appeared on The Tonight Show to perform “Same Drugs” and talk with Jimmy Fallon about the 10th anniversary of his 2015 mixtape Coloring Book, according to Rolling Stone.

Backed by a guitarist, Chance delivered the reflective song from the mixtape. The track includes lyrics that reference Peter Pan while looking at the idea of growing older.

During his sit-down with Fallon, Chance said he and everyone who worked on the project believed strongly in what they were making. He added that the songs came together at the right time and eventually formed a larger thesis for the mixtape.

He also said “Same Drugs” went through more than 200 versions and had been written years before Coloring Book was released. Chance described it as one of the pieces of work he is most proud of.

Chance recently launched a 10th anniversary tour for Coloring Book. He said he sees the tour as a chance to check in with fans, noting that the mixtape affected many lives over the past decade.
