The 2026 FIFA World Cup featured its first-ever halftime show on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, according to E! News.
Madonna opened the performance with her 2000 song “Music,” arriving at the stadium with Brazilian soccer legends Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. She was followed by conductor Gustavo Dudamel and his orchestra, with the Muppets joining in on instruments.
BTS performed “Dynamite” in coordinated red, black and white outfits. Justin Bieber then sang an acoustic version of “Everything Hallelujah,” ending with a lyric change to “It’s the World Cup, hallelujah.”
Shakira and Burna Boy also performed “Dai Dai,” and the finale brought together PS 22 Chorus, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, dancers and Sesame Street characters for a closing message about unity. FIFA said $1 from every ticket sold to 2026 World Cup matches will support social projects around the world.
