Bloc Party have released a new song called “Pigwig,” giving fans another preview of their seventh studio album, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance, according to NME. The record is set for release on September 11 through Contagious Music.
The band had already shared the tracks “Coming On Strong,” “Love Bombs” and “Now We Can’t Be Friends” ahead of the album. Frontman Kele Okereke said “Pigwig” is about the feeling of suddenly realizing you have fallen hard for someone, even if it feels almost against your will.
Okereke also explained that “Pigwig” was a pet name used in a relationship, inspired by the Beatrix Potter character and shared as an inside joke. He described the song as one of the sweetest on the album, recalling a romantic seaside trip during what he called the most magical point in the relationship.
The single arrives with a vintage-style official video directed and designed by Laura Perrett, which shows the band performing live. Bloc Party have also added more dates to their UK record store tour, and later this year they will head out on a UK and European co-headline tour with Interpol.
