BigXthaPlug was arrested Friday in Texas on drug and weapons charges, according to Rolling Stone. The Dallas rapper, whose real name is Xavier Landum, also missed a scheduled performance at a music festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Dallas station KDFW reported that the Allen Police Department pulled Landum over and booked him into the Collin County Jail. He faces charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Rolling Stone noted that the arrest came about a year after Landum was previously arrested on marijuana possession and unlawful possession of a firearm charges in Dallas. He was reportedly out on bail in that case when he was arrested again on Friday.
Organizers of Winnipeg’s Country Rising Festival said they understood fans’ disappointment over his absence and described it as a personal emergency. Despite the arrest, organizers of the Iowa State Fair Grandstand told KCCI Des Moines that they had been told he would still perform there Saturday night.
