Alex G has released the first song from his upcoming soundtrack for Jane Schoenbrun’s next film, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, according to Pitchfork. The track, “Pain is the Heart of Love,” features The Blue Nile’s Paul Buchanan.
The full score is set to arrive on August 21. This marks Alex G’s third collaboration with Schoenbrun, following his work on 2022’s We’re All Going to the World’s Fair and 2024’s I Saw the TV Glow.
The film centers on a young director, played by Hannah Einbinder, who is rebooting a classic horror franchise when she connects with the reclusive actress, played by Gillian Anderson, who once portrayed the series’ final girl.
Pitchfork notes that the soundtrack also includes songs from R.E.M., Sally Shapiro, Donna Lewis and Okay Kaya. Buchanan, meanwhile, has appeared only occasionally in recent years since releasing his solo album Mid Air in 2012.
