Alex Cooper is speaking candidly about a health challenge she’s facing during pregnancy. In an Instagram video posted July 30, the Call Her Daddy host said she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
According to E! News, Cooper explained that the condition happens when pregnancy hormones affect insulin resistance, making it harder for the pancreas to keep blood sugar at a normal level. She said she was told that anyone can develop it, regardless of weight, diet or fitness level.
Cooper shared that the diagnosis hit her hard at first and made her feel alone, even with support from her husband, family and others around her. She also said pregnancy already brings a lot of emotional changes, which made the news especially difficult.
The 31-year-old said her main concern is for her baby’s health and that she has been researching the condition online while waiting to hear from a nutritionist. She added that she hopes sharing her experience will help other women who are going through the same thing feel seen.
