Viagra Boys have discussed the strong response to their 2025 album Viagr Aboys and offered a glimpse of the new music they are working on, according to NME.
The Swedish punk six-piece spoke backstage at Reading Festival, where they played the Gallery Stage. Frontman Sebastian Murphy said he was surprised by how much people liked the album, while guitarist Linus Hillborg and keyboard player Elias Jungqvist also reflected on the record’s success.
The band said Viagr Aboys was co-produced with Pelle Gunnerfeldt of Fireside and marked their first official self-production credit on a Viagra Boys release. Murphy said having outside input can be helpful, but that the band also benefits from the many different opinions within the group.
They also said the album was written and recorded at Shrimptech Enterprises, their headquarters in a former cement factory in Stockholm, and the first time they had made a full record in their own space. Looking ahead, Murphy said the band has been writing for the past year and recording demos and riffs, and plans to go into the studio after the final two shows of the tour. Jungqvist said the new material feels “eclectic,” while Murphy described it as “eclectic rock’n’roll.”
