New renderings are giving Maricopa residents the first look at the proposed Mountainside Fitness planned for the southeast corner of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue, according to InMaricopa.
The plans show a large entrance with the Mountainside Fitness logo, light-colored exterior walls, reddish-brown accents and a charcoal gray roof. They also show large front windows and desert landscaping around the parking lot and entry area.
The project was first mentioned in June in an update from Mayor Nancy Smith. Two months later, Phoenix-based Evolve Ventures filed pre-application paperwork for a 40,000-square-foot gym near John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue, next to Lowe’s and Trulieve Dispensary, according to the report.
It would be the chain’s second effort to open in Maricopa. A previous proposal did not move forward in 2008 after the company said city-related delays and poor timing affected the investment. Mountainside Fitness now operates more than 20 locations in Arizona, but no construction schedule or opening date has been announced for the Maricopa project.
