Neil Perry says he is no longer part of The Band Perry and claims he was “terminated” from the group after a disagreement with his sister Kimberly Perry about the band’s lineup, according to Rolling Stone.
Neil shared his account on Instagram, pointing to events he says happened in June 2024 and including a clip from Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast interview with Kimberly Perry. In a follow-up post, he said he had asked his sister not to misrepresent his support for the band’s current direction.
According to Rolling Stone, Kimberly Perry said on the Nashville Now podcast that there would always be an open seat for a brother if one of them ever wanted to tour, while describing support from family around the band’s new chapter. Neil said the formal termination letter made clear the decision was final.
Neil also wrote that in May 2024 he was given options that included moving forward as a duo, holding auditions, or having Kimberly Perry’s husband, Johnny Costello, step in. He said he was fine with the first two options but that the band ultimately did not proceed, and he later says he was forced out under a 2/3 partnership agreement. Neil pointed to his own music project, Wolves of June, and his new pop single “TNT.”
