Jim Parsons says he was miserable during Big Bang Theory fame

Jim Parsons says the height of his fame on The Big Bang Theory was far more stressful than it looked from the outside. In an appearance on the July 13 episode of the All Out with Jon Dean podcast, Parsons said he now realizes there were times in his life when he was successful but still miserable, according to E! News.

The actor said he felt pressure to keep many “plates” in the air at once and believed his success depended on constant overwork. He added that what looked like discipline was also tied to obsessive behavior and what he described as OCD-like tendencies.

Parsons, who played Sheldon Cooper from 2007 to 2019, said the role brought major success, awards and four Emmys, but that he was struggling internally during that period. He said that if he had the chance, he would not take on that experience again “for any amount of money.”

He also said the demands of that time affected his personal life, noting that he “missed tons of life.” Even so, Parsons said those years helped shape who he is now and that his relationship with fame continues to improve.
