Gypsy Rose Blanchard apologizes for resurfaced prison calls using racial slurs

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has issued an apology after audio clips from old prison phone calls resurfaced online, according to E! News.

In a statement posted Aug. 21 to her since-deleted TikTok account, Blanchard said she used racist language and made disrespectful comments, including remarks about her sister Mia Blanchard and Mia’s fiancé, André Pittman. She said the words were wrong and that she takes full responsibility.

The resurfaced clips, which have spread on social media, reportedly include multiple uses of a racial slur in calls with her then-husband Ryan Anderson and family members. One clip allegedly shows Blanchard and Anderson laughing and making racist remarks about Mia dating Pittman, who is Black, and about other interracial relationships.

Blanchard also apologized directly to the Black community, saying she understands the anger and hurt caused by the language. She told Mia and Pittman that they did not deserve the pain, and said she respects whatever boundaries they need as healing happens on their timeline.

In her statement, Blanchard said those comments do not reflect who she is today. She added that she cannot undo what was said, but can acknowledge it, learn from it, and continue trying to do better.
