DIIV have announced a new album titled ZIRP!, which is set for release on October 30, according to Stereogum. The record is being produced by A. G. Cook.
No songs or preview clips have been released so far, but some fans reportedly got a business card in the mail that included a QR code leading to the band’s website and a phone number.
Calling the number plays a message that introduces ZIRP! as “the future of alternative multimedia entertainment,” along with language about challenging assumptions, creating new categories, and thinking on a global scale.
Stereogum noted that the rollout has a faux-company feel, similar to the kind of marketing experiments associated with PC Music. The announcement continues a busy year for Cook, who has also worked on projects with Charli XCX and Danny L Harle.
