Bret Michaels has canceled the rest of his 2026 tour dates so he can fully recover from recent surgeries, according to Rolling Stone.
The Poison singer, who has Type 1 diabetes, recently had a kidney stone removed and a ureteral stent placed. He returned to the stage Friday night in Sugar Hill, Georgia, but his team said doctors and paramedics determined afterward that he still needed more time to heal.
“Bret will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to 100%,” Michaels’ representatives said in a statement shared on social media. His doctors added that they were pulling him off the road for now and that rest would be especially important during the summer because of the heat, humidity and their effect on his blood sugar levels.
Michaels said on social media that he may have gone back out sooner than he should have, but added that he hopes the band will return “better than ever.” The canceled shows included six more Live and Amplified Tour dates in August and September, along with two November performances.
